Lively Sketchbooks
What’s a sketchbook without experimentation and a narrative? Without structured teaching student sketchbooks can become laboured presentations and/or dislocated collections of images. Some of the pages here are made early in Y12, on an A3 scale. Other examples are larger, where the Y13 students clearly enjoy juxtaposing images, experiments and annotation. There are also some examples of GCSE ‘boards’ that I often use instead of sketchbooks. The students really like the large space to develop their coursework ideas, but it does require robust teaching to achieve that all-important narrative.
